A Huge Scientific Survey of International Level
A BREAKTHROUGH study conducted by Acharya Balkrishna, a leading researcher and General Secretary of Patanjali Yogpeeth at Hardwar has finally established that Yog is an absolute science, which also has a psychosomatic effect on the body and behaviour. The study was carried out on over five lakh people across the states in India, United Kingdom (UK), United States of America (USA), Thailand, Japan, Australia, Canada, Sri Lanka and UAE.
Creating a record of first-ever international study on millions of people, the people of Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka were also included in the research to study the ‘Psychosomatic Effects of Yog’ on the body, by investigating institute, Patanjali Yogpeeth. The study was mainly focussed on the effect of Yog and Pranayam, taught by revered Guru Swami Ramdevi ji to millions of people in his Yog camps in India and abroad. The other aim of the stusy was to prove that Yog is an absolute science, as claimed by Swamiji.
The results were astonishing. The highest number of participants in the study were in the age group of 25-50 years. They showed a high level of interest in Yog and Pranayam. Even though, the participants right from uneducated to highly qualified were involved in the study, at least 85 per cent participant, who had a minimum intermediate degree, were amongst those who understood the benefits of Yog on the body.
“The study also established that a person’s health is directly related to his income. It was found that the highest number of participants (28.72 per cent) employed in the service sector and were more alert towards their health,” stated Acharya Balkrishna.
Acharya Balkrishna said that many participants admitted that Yog and Pranayam had a positive effect on their mental stress and thinking process.
“A large number of participants confessed that the regular practice of Yog and Pranayam created a mutual love and affection for their partners in the married life. They said that they have also developed respect for their elders and revered Guru,” Acharya ji further added.
Acharya Balkrishna said even more interesting was the effect of Yog and Pranayam on social life and eating habits of people. More than 29 per cent people admitted that their social life had improved after regular practice of Yog and Pranayam. About 10.46 per cent participants said that they had stop eating pizza, burger and fast food. As many as 8.7 per cent said that they had stop purchasing the products of multinational companies. At least eight per cent people admitted that they had stop eating non vegetarian food after realising the importance of clean vegetarian food in Yog camps.
“The study also analysed the effect of Yog and Pranayam on different vices and abnormal habits of a person. More than 90 per cent people admitted that Yog and Pranayam helped them in quitting smoking, drinking (10.46 per cent) and other bad habits like chewing of gutkha and tobacco,” he further informed.
Acharya Balkrishna said they also studied the role of Patanjali Yogpeeth in establishing Yog as science. As many as 73.54 per cent participants said that the institute had played an excellent role in this direction. Whereas, only 8.2 per cent people said that the work done by the Yogpeeth was very good.
“Interestingly, 73.13 per cent participants also agreed that after regular practice of Yog and Pranayam, their spirituality level has improved,” said Balkrishna ji.
Acharya Balkrishna said the ratio of male and female participants was 56.13:43.05 per cent. “About 32.42 per cent people who participated in the survey live in rural areas and 57.18 per cent in urban area. It appears that the study was inclined towards cities. But this aspect of the study makes it even more effective. The reason is that city people are more prone to diseases and at the same time have access to better medical services,” he explained.
Acharya Balkrishna said during the study, it was also found that television and electronic media had played an important role in Swami Ramdev’s Yog revolution which had spread in different parts of the world. “We found that 27.94 per cent people practice Yog in the morning, which is also an ideal time for the point of view of high oxygen content in the atmosphere,” he further pointed out.
Acharya Balkrishna said the participants were sent a questionnaire on random survey and were asked to provide information on the psychological affect of Yog.
